In the past I used the grapevine as a metaphor in my work. A cluster of fruit is like a cluster of DNA. Where is the vine's ancestry from? I explored the legacy of the descendant; the fruit has unique DNA and is a product of the parental vine. Health of the vine is affected by the environment, a product of both nature and nurture.
From this work I moved to actual DNA, utilizing the ground-breaking research from the laboratory of McLean Hospital. Using visual imagery, I question: what has science revealed, what is beautiful, what is common, what is all around us?
